In Fred Hoffman's book, Polish Surnames: Origins and Meanings, 2nd Edition, he says that Ulaszek comes from the name Ulas, from Elias.

According to the Slownik nazwisk wspolczesnie w Polsce uzywanych, "Dictionary of surnames in Current Use in Poland", published in 1992, there are 289 people with the Ulaszek name living in Poland.

Chociażby takie nazwiska występujące w metrykach z XVII w. jak: Wałaszek, Walaszek, Ulaszek, itp. Zdają się wskazywać że mamy do czynienia z osadą wołoską.

Osobnica, this village about 8 km southwest from Jasło, her residents differentiate decisively from all contiguous village’s character, dialect and many other features. Even if such surnames occurring in registers from the XVII century like: Wałaszek, Walaszek, Ulaszek, etc. They pass to show that we have to interact with Wallachian settlements.
