The Swedish Invasion of 1655

Uchodząc przed armia szwedzką, wszedł na Podlasie, porzucając tym samym służbę elektorską, Stafan Niewiarowski, dysponujący jakoby pułkiem wojska. W okolicach Augustowa koło Nettz, doszło do potyczki między jego oddziałami a wojskami Bogusława Radziwiłła, ktorymi dowodził Jan Denhoff. Potyczka skończyła się szczęśliwie Ten jednak ostrzegał księgcia Bogusława, aby wystrzegał się spotkania z Niewiarowskim, gdyż jak donisił

To flee against the Swedish army, came to Podlasie, rejecting the same service of the elector, Stafan Niewiarowski, who is supposedly Colonel of the army.  In the vicinity of near Augustow, near Netta, there were clashes between its troops and the army of Boguslawa Radziwill, which was commanded by Jan Denhoff.  The skirmish ended happily. In 1655, the Swedish army invaded Poland on two fronts. The first was via Swedish Pomerania into Wiekopolska near Uisce. The second front under General de la Gardie along the Lithuanian, Podlasian, and Mazurian boarder of Prussia. This move passed right through the Augustow area. I recently found a publication that confirmed that the Army was stationed in the  Augustow area during November 1655. The maps from this publication show the route taken during this invasion.

The table above shows the villages in the area of Augustow, the number of houses in each village at the time, and the location where parts of the area were documented as being quartered. The Swedish Cavalry (or at least part of it was stationed in the village of Tajno.
