The Mystery of Bartlomeij Orbik

Most Orbiks that I have found I have traced back to Bartlomeij Orbik, living in Tajno in the mid 1700s.

Bartlomeij was married to Zofia. His first child was born in 1749, so it is possible he was born 1729 or earlier.

The record below is the baptism of Anna, daughter of Thomas Orbik and Zofia in 1697 in Tajno.

This is the birth record of Bartlomiej Orbik to an unknown father and Anna Orbik in Barglowo. There were no other Orbiks living in Barglowo at this time.  If this is the Anna listed above, she was probably an orphan because Thomas Orbik and three other members of his family died in the plague in 1710.  Record 124. This could actually be my ancestor, Bartlomiej Orbik..

In 1776, there was a death of Bartlomiej Orbik. His age was listed as about 56. This would have made him born around 1720.

There was a gap in the birth records in Barglow Koscielny from 1709-1714.

Since there were no other records of Bartlomeij Orbik in Barglow, it is quite possible that the Orbik from where most Orbiks came from was an illegitimate child.

The record below was a marriage in Tajno of Anna Orbik and Mathias Konoza, a founding family of Polikowo. It is not known for sure whether these Anna Orbiks were the same. But close matches in Y-DNA between Orbiks and Konozas suggest a close relationship.
