The Barglow-Koscielny Parish Record Index Project

This site is dedicated to helping those researchers with ancestors from Barglow Koscielny parish find their ancestors. This will be done in several phases:

Phase I - Create a table with the marriage indexes from 1837-1849. This index was unique in that it covered such a great period of time. After 1839, marriages were indexed by year. Phase I will only have data from the actual index:

Phase I is complete except for villages. This should be complete in the next week.

Phase II – This will consist of a searchable database of phase one products. This should be done by the end of February, 2008.

Phase III – This will consist of a table and database of the individual year indexes from 1850 -1863. This should take a few weeks.

Phase IV. This will consist of filling in all the details of the marriage records in the database: This will take at least a year.

I have been contacted by Miroslaw Bronakowski who lives in Poland and who has roots in Barglow Koscielny parish. He has volunteered to help index baptisms in the same years of 1837-1864. We will work together on this project.

Barglow Koscielny Marriage Index 1830s to 1860s - A Work in Progress.

This Index is a work in Progress. I am indexing the marriage records of Barglow Koscielny Parish from 1830s to 1860s. I chose these years because the priest's handwriting Father Alexander Grudzinski, was excellent during this period. This project ends in 1864 because that is when the text and indexes turned to the Russian Cyrillic alphabet and I am not so good with that language (yet).

Phase one will be the capturing of the index of the 674 records in this group. This should be completely finished in a few weeks. Phase two include a complete extraction of these records including witnesses, parents, occupations, etc. The end result will be a searchable database. This may take a year or two.

NEW - February 29,2008. My research colleague in Bialystok, Poland earlier informed me that one of his colleagues, Bartosz Choroszewski, was already working on a searchable marriage database of Barglow Koscielny parish. He sent me a link in mid February that this was now online. This is a great endeavor and is very valuable. I will continue with my research to mine more data out of these records than just names and dates. This information will include villages, occupations, etc.
